NanoDynamics Nano and Micro-Sized Metal Powders

Nanodynamics manufactures a broad range of nano- and micron-sized metal powders in dry, non-agglomerated form, or in the form of an easily dispersible wet ¡§pre-dispersion¡¨.

With exceptionally tight control over particle size and surface chemistry, these nano- and micron-sized metal powders will provide design and manufacturing engineers with outstanding performance and reliability.

Applications of NanoDynamics Nano and Micro-Sized Metal Powders

Typical applications of Nanodynamics nano- and micron-sized metal powders include:

  • Conductive inks and pastes (hybrid microelectronics, multi-layer ceramic capacitors, display materials etc.
  • Catalysts for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC)
  • Thermally conductive fillers (conductive adhesives, polymer thick films)
  • Ink-jet printed conductors

NanoDynamics Nano and Micro-Sized Materials

The list of Nanodynamics nano- and micron-sized metal powders includes:

  • NDCopper: 250 nm to 1 micron spherical particles, 4 to 15 micron flakes
  • NDSilver: 30 to 80 nm spherical particles, 60 x 600 nm Ag platelets
  • NDNickel: 100 to 200 nm spherical particles

NanoDynamics Nanoceramics

Through our subsidiary, MetaMateria Partners. Nanodynamics produces a variety of simple and mixed-oxide ceramics. Particles of 3 nanometers to micron sizes are available in both dry form and as unagglomerated suspensions. The particle surface chemistry can be controlled to match the needs of downstream processing. Some of the ceramic materials currently available include:

Nanodynamics is developing next-generation nanostructured carbon products, including multi-walled carbon nanotubes. These materials are available to both research and commercial users in bulk form, Novel technology provides for high volume production and a significant cost advantage.

Process Intensification Equipment

Scaling up chemical processes has always been challenging because heat transfer and other surface phenomena as well as the dynamics of mixing and thermal transfer make scale up tricky. Scaling up from bench scale to pilot scale is fraught with difficulties and moving to plant scale is definitely not for the faint of heart! Any unexpected effects are excruciatingly expensive and will result in commissioning delays and lost production.

Process intensification revisits the fundamentals of fluid dynamics and is created when mixing occurs on a nano or micro scale, enhanced by high shear conditions using thin films or micro-flows. Unlike normal batch chemical processes, scale-up issues are minimized because every volume element sees the same chemical and thermal environment and experiences the same reaction time at temperature. Typical process intensification module configurations include spinning disc reactors (SDR), micro-arrays and rotating cylinder or tube reactors:
