Nanotechnology and Thermoplastics - New Product

Recent trends have seen strong demand for antimicrobial plastics, rubber and composite materials. The biocides generally used in these materials have a tendency to be unstable but nanomaterials can be cost-effective and long lasting even when subjected to harsh environments.

Nanomaterials like NanoTek zinc oxide, copper oxide or doped zinc oxides can be dispersed into thermoplastic product formulations and fabricated via normal means such as injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding or thermoforming.

Applications include children’s toys, refrigerator liners and other appliance parts, interior and exterior wall coverings, adhesives, caulks and sealants and food processing and food service equipment..
