Nanotechnology Companies Collaborate On Sensors - News Item

Cyrano Sciences and The CombiMatrix Group of Acacia Research Corp. have agreed to collaborate on the development of chemical sensors that merge microarray technology from Combimatrix and electronic nose technology from Cyrano.

The microarrays from CombiMatrix's are a semiconductor chip with thousands of independently addressable microelectrodes that can be used for genetic analysis, RNAi drug discovery and biodefense. The Cyrano electronic nose uses array based nanocomposite sensors to detect very low levels of chemicals.

By merging the two technologies, there should be a profound increase in chemical detection abilities.
