| Smalltimes magazine has named textiles company Nano-Tex the 2003 Company of the Year. North Carolina-based Nano-Tex nanotechnology enhanced textiles that are stain-proof, wrinkle-free, absorbent, more comfortable and odour-free. International brands using fabrics from Nano-Tex include Levi’s, Lee, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY and Benetton. Other finalists included: - BEI Technologies Inc., manufacturer of MEMS gyros and sensors

- NanoOpto Corp., developer of nanoimprinting technology for telecoms
