UK Nanotechnology Record Defended By UK Science Minister - News Item

Lord Sainsbury, the UK Science and Innovation Minister, has defended the record of the UK government in regards to nanotechnology. His comments come after a recent report that blamed the UK government for losing the country’s position as leaders in nanotechnology.

The comments by Lord Sainsbury were made in a letter to the Financial Times and accused the committee responsible for the report of underestimating the “substantial investments government has been making in nanotechnology.”

He went on to say “The 90 million GBP I announced for micro and nanotechnology last July is just the latest in a series of investments in this important emerging technology; for example the Research Councils are currently investing about 70 million GBP a year into nanotechnology research.”
