The nanofilm_ultrabam is used to visualize Langmuir monolayers or adsorbate films at the air/water interface. Due to itLs unique imaging optics, fully focused images at 20-35 frames per second are provided.
For the first time in a commercial instrument, high resolution and overall focused real-time imaging of monolayers becomes possible. It also works on dielectric substrates like glass, quartz or similar materials.
A high performance camera and dedicated calibration algorithms allow quantitative measurements of reflectivity, thus enabling the user to monitor adsorption kinetics or thickness variations. The nanofilm_ultrabam is equipped with a motorized analyzer to show optical anisotropy caused by long range molecular orientation order in monolayers.
