Flash Diffusivity Systems - DLF-1200 Laser Flash Analysis

All the advanced tools provided by TA Instruments are designed for measuring thermal diffusivity up to 1200°C using the Flash method.

This method enables measuring definite heat capacity and thermal conductivity of materials with various thermal properties. All tools are equipped with multi-specimen testing capability, thereby enhancing productivity and specific heat capacity measurements. The tools are capable of full time pulse mapping, precision optics, and current data analysis.

The Discovery Flash data analysis software uses several current methods for heat loss corrections. For instance, the Clark and Taylor method is used as a highly precise basic purpose procedure for regulating thermal diffusivity based on the radiation heat losses, finite pulse width, and non-isothermal local sample conditions. There are more than 20 different analysis models and correction programs built into the software, thus providing maximum precision for all types of materials.

Some of the available models include:

  • Heckman
  • Moment
  • Degiovanni
  • Parker
  • Cowan
  • Koski
  • Least Squares
  • Logarithmic

The tool detector is designed for matching the operating temperature range of the Environmental Module. In the case of moderate–to-high-temperature measurements, an indium antimonide (InSb) IR detector is used. The IR detector can be cooled with liquid nitrogen so as to ensure stable output and highest repeatability.
