Background

Professor Liu received his B.S. degree in 2000 from the University of Science and Technology of China and Ph.D. in 2005 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow from 2007 to 2009 under the direction of Professor C. Jeffrey Brinker at the University of New Mexico and Sandia National Laboratories. In July 2009, he took an Assistant Professor position at the Department of Chemistry at University of Waterloo in Canada. He is also affiliated with the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN). His research interest includes bionanotechnology, DNA aptamer selection, bioanalytical chemistry, and nanomedicine. In the past ten years, he has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, which has received over 2000 citations.
