Manipulating Miniscule Objects With a Tractor Beam of Light
Like something straight out of science fiction,
MIT researchers have created a way to manipulate tiny objects
using a 'tractor beam' of light. The video shows individual cells being
moved to spell out "MIT".
The light tractor beam can be used to pick up, hold
and move around individual cells and other objects on the surface of a
microchip.
