Building on the success of previous years, London's ExCeL will once again host MICROSCIENCE 2010, Europe's premier international conference and exhibition on microscopy, imaging and analysis in both the life and physical sciences. Organised by the Royal Microscopical Society (RMS), this major biennial event will be held from 28th June to 1st July 2010.

"The reputation and standing of the MICROSCIENCE conference continues to grow," explains Dr Paul Monaghan, RMS President, "and we are delighted that Professor Lord Robert Winston has agreed to give the opening Plenary Lecture. He has an outstanding reputation and presence, and his lecture will set the tone for what promises to be an exceptional three days of conference sessions."

The conference comprises four parallel sessions which will address the biological and physical sciences and will reveal innovations at the frontiers of development. These will run alongside Europe's largest exhibition for microscopy and imaging.

"In addition to Lord Winston we have Professor Sir John Meurig Thomas and Professor Wolfgang Baumeister giving Plenary Lectures," says Dr Debbie Stokes, RMS Honorary Secretary Science (Physical). "They are leading figures in the fields of electron imaging for life sciences and materials sciences respectively. And, on the Wednesday evening we have Dr Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz giving the RMS Lecture when she receives the Pearse Prize - the Society's highest award in histochemistry. All of these talks will stimulate thought, and provoke discussion, and will complement the conference sessions perfectly, bringing great added-value for all delegates at the event."

The list of invited speakers is equally impressive and the first call for submitted papers will be made at the end of November. "Through an oral presentation, you will be sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in their fields, explains Dr Peter O'Toole, RMS Honorary Secretary Science (Biological), "The facilities for speakers are first-class and all are well looked after by RMS staff. The poster presentations are all within the Main Hall and are genuinely an integral part of the event. They provide fantastic feedback, comments and networking opportunities. If you are serious about presenting your work, then MICROSCIENCE 2010 offers the perfect platform."

The first call for papers will be made on 30th November 2009. The deadline for submissions is 1st March 2010.
