Bringing in one of science's brightest minds,
the Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) holds its 9th annual Distinguished
Lecturer Series today at its Mississauga-based centre. A world-renowned expert
in biochemistry, materials science, catalysis and physical organic chemistry,
Professor George M. Whitesides of Harvard University will shed light on the
emerging area of nanotechnology - a growing field of interest for scientists
around the globe, including Xerox.
Whitesides will present "Perspectives in Nanotechnology and Materials
Chemistry" to more than a hundred students from Brock University, McMaster
University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, University of
Western Ontario, University of Windsor, and York University, as well as XRCC
staff.
"Nanotechnology research and the impact of nano-scale materials
development are integral to the future of entrepreneurial science in Canada,
and to the future of material research in Xerox" says Hadi Mahabadi, Xerox
vice-president and centre manager of XRCC. "Professor Whitesides is a pioneer
in this area, and his assistance in promoting Canadian scientific brilliance
in this field is irreplaceable."
XRCC's "Distinguished Lecturer Series" aims to create an environment
where Canada's future researchers and scientists can learn from the most
influential scientific minds in the world.
