The Australian Nano Business Forum (ANBF) has announced the appointment of Dr Paul McCormick as the Board Member to represent its WA Chapter. Dr McCormick who was nominated by the WA Chapter of the ANBF, and elected unanimously by the ANBF Board, will take up his position immediately. Dr Mc Cormick is one of the leaders of nanotechnology in Australia.
Dr McCormick is the founder and CEO of Advanced Nanotechnology Limited, a prominent Australian manufacturer of nanomaterials and nano-enabled products, which listed successfully on the ASX in early 2006. Most notable is its unique, patented Mechanochemical Processing (MCP™) technology, which is a solid-state process for the manufacture of a wide range of nanopowders.
Dr McCormick is one of the inventors of the MCP™ technology, and founded Advanced Nano in 1997 in order to commercialise the MCP™ manufacturing process. Prior to this, Dr McCormick was an internationally recognized researcher in the fields of mechanochemical processing and synthesis of nanopowders, and held senior research management roles in academia in WA.
The CEO of the ANBF, Ms Tina Rankovic welcomed Dr McCormick to the Board “We are delighted that Paul is joining the ANBF Board. We believe that his skills and experience will enhance the existing Board”. She believes that “The ANBF is privileged and honoured to have the CEO of one of Australia’s foremost publicly listed nanotechnology companies on its Board”. Mr Brian Power, Chairman of ANBF, applauded the appointment and noted that “More than 85% of ANBF’s inaugural members are now represented at the Board level.”
An existing Director, Dr Peter Binks, will assume responsibility for representation of the Tasmanian Chapter of the ANBF, effective immediately. The Tasmanian Chapter intends to elect a Tasmanian-based Director by the end of the year.
The Australian Nano Business Forum was formed in late 2005, following the 2nd National Nanotechnology Conference in Melbourne in September 2005. The ANBF is the peak national body representing and promoting Australian industries and companies involved in nanotechnology. The ANBF provides a collective voice for member organisations engaged in this emerging technology, as well as facilitating links between other key stakeholders such as government, funding, regulatory and research entities.
