Bourne Research LLC, a market
research firm which tracks emerging technologies, revealed its second
annual list of the ten coolest consumer products of 2007, featuring
just a few of the items which utilize the latest in MEMS
(micro-electro-mechanical systems) and nanotechnology. All of these
products are available to consumers today and range in price from less
than $15 to more than $100,000.
"What makes these ten products so cool is their innovative use
of emerging technologies," said Marlene Bourne, President &
Principal Analyst of Bourne Research. "From nanomaterials and
MEMS sensors, to completely novel technological approaches, they offer
an intriguing glimpse at what the future holds for the consumer."
The Bourne Report's Ten Coolest Consumer Products of 2007
includes "must-have" items such as next-generation cookware, fishing
poles, hockey skates and even underwear. A few of the products include
Guitar Hero III from Red Octane, iSOBOT from TOMY, and the Tesla
Roaster from Tesla Motors.
The entire list was revealed December 2nd during The Bourne
Report, a weekly radio show which discusses next-generation science and
technology. Hosted by Marlene Bourne, the show airs on the Independent
1310 KXAM in Phoenix, and streams live via the Internet to listeners
worldwide. Each weekly show is also archived for on-demand listening.
