DALSA Corporation (TSX:DSA),
an international leader in high performance digital imaging and semiconductors
with approximately 1000 employees world-wide, is pleased to announce that Claude
Jean, Vice President and General Manager of the DALSA Semiconductor foundry,
will speak at the SEMICON West conference and trade show July 14 in San Francisco,
CA.
Mr. Jean's presentation, entitled "Foundry's view of the MEMS Market,"
will be part of the "Opportunities in MEMS" segment of the "Extreme
Electronics" program. The presentation explains how the MEMS market, and
particularly the MEMS foundry market, has expanded significantly in the past
years and is forecasted to keep expanding at a much higher rate than the rest
of the semiconductor industry. DALSA anticipated this trend in the late 1990s,
and after almost 10 years of extensive efforts in R&D and capital investments,
DALSA has positioned itself among the leading pure play MEMS foundries with
a large patent portfolio and an unmatched process repertoire, as well as sustained
revenue growth. The presentation will outline the key elements of DALSA's strategy
regarding technology development, market segments and manufacturing strategy
that have led to this dominating position, as well as future plans to maintain
and extend that position.
Mr. Jean holds graduate degrees in Physics and microelectronics as well as
an MBA. He also serves on the board of directors of NanoQuebec.
