NanoHorizons Inc., a leader in the creation of nanoscale antimicrobial performance additives for textile, health care, industrial, and consumer products, today announced the appointment of Chris Haupt to the newly created position of Vice President, Industrial Business Unit. Mr. Haupt has fourteen years experience in the specialty chemical industry, most recently as the Industrial Business Director of Inolex Chemical Company. His professional focus and expertise are in polymer chemistry and business development for the C.A.S.E and flexible foam markets.

SmartSilver is a global brand of antimicrobial additives engineered to permanently integrate silver nanoparticles into coatings, elastomers, foams and thermoplastic applications as well as natural and synthetic fibers and fabrics. The additives are easily mixed and metered into finished and in-process formulations with no impact on physical properties or other performance features. SmartSilver will also not thermally or UV degrade and its antimicrobial protection lasts the expected life of the end-product. SmartSilver is EPA-approved under FIFRA for broad applications and Oeko-Tex certified as free of harmful substances.

“With its growing interest in our SmartSilver branded antimicrobial solution, the industrial sector presents exciting opportunities as well as unique needs,” states David Woodle, Chairman and CEO, NanoHorizons. “Chris has hands-on experience as both a chemist and business executive. As a result, he has a deep understanding of the industrial market from a technical and product sales perspective. His leadership will be valuable in helping us forge strong and successful relationships with industrial customers.”

“Given the increased demand for antimicrobial protection within the specialty chemical industry, I am excited about the broad set of potential application areas for SmartSilver within the industrial sector,” says Chris Haupt. “I believe SmartSilver’s proven antimicrobial performance and durability, and its ease of integration makes it a solid solution for many industrial product offerings, particularly paints and coatings.”
