Vorbeck Introduces New Vor-ink Flexo Formulation Based on Graphene

Vorbeck Materials Corp., the world’s leading producer of graphene-based materials and manufacturer of the world’s first commercial graphene-based product, Vor-ink conductive inks, announces a new conductive ink formulation for flexographic printing, Vor-ink Flexo.

Based on Vorbeck’s patented graphene technology, Vor-ink Flexo enables the high-speed printing of this highly conductive material. Like other Vor-ink formulations using graphene, Vor-ink Flexo retains conductivity even after repeat bending and folding. Vor-ink Flexo can be cured at low temperatures and is designed for use on a variety of substrates including paper, paperboard, and polymer films.

“Graphene has unique electronic properties and is the most thermally conductive and the strongest material yet measured,” says Dan Scheffer, Director of Ink Research and Development at Vorbeck. “With the new Vor-ink Flexo formulation, we can rapidly print thousands of feet of highly-conductive patterns, using standard presses and on paper as thin as newsprint. Vor-ink Flexo offers considerable advantages to our customers looking to reduce the cost of electronics.”

Vor-ink Flexo is available at a cost well below competing silver-based inks. In addition, printers can rely on high line speeds and rapid drying, lowering costs by increasing throughput. Vor-ink Flexo is designed to be used on current commercial flexographic presses without the need for specialized equipment, providing a cost-effective solution for high-speed roll-to-roll printing of electronics.
