SmartChip MicroRNA Panel for Gene Profiling

WaferGen Biosystems has unveiled its SmartChip Human microRNA Panel V2 to enable gene expression profiling on the SmartChip Real-Time PCR platform.

The V2 analyzes microRNAs (Ribonucleic Acid). MicroRNAs impact gene monitoring. It relates to various diseases. This panel helps to profile 1200 human microRNAs on one chip. It facilitates discovery, validation and viewing of biomarkers in a high-throughput and in a cost-effective manner.

The panel delivers enhanced content, specificity and sensitivity.  It works with RNA derived from cell lines, frozen tissue and formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue (FFPE). It will use over 1200 human miRNA types from the miRBase version of 16 sequence database.

The 12 built-in monitors deliver quality assurance. Cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are targeted at clinical applications of microRNA profiling. MicroRNAs are nano-sized non-protein-coding single-stranded RNA molecules of 20 to 24 nucleotides in length operating as negative monitors of gene expression by aiming at specific messenger RNAs. This process either restricts translation or enhances messenger RNA degradation.

The 5,184 SmartChip nano-well chip utilizes a tiny quantity of biological substance to deliver flexibility to analyze  thousand genes in one sample or few genes on multiple samples, ensuring a smooth workflow from discovery to validation, with time and cost savings. Quantitative Real-Time PCR Expression Profiling helps to incorporate the gene expression profiling throughput of microarrays with the sensitivity and range of the PCR.
