Evident Technologies and Samsung Electronics have signed an all-inclusive patent licensing and purchasing contract for the quantum dot LED technology developed by Evident.

The terms of the agreement will allow Samsung global access to Evident's patent range for all models connected with quantum dot LEDs from fabrication of quantum dot nanomaterials to final LED manufacture.

Nano-scale semiconductor crystals are called quantum dots. These quantum dots are incorporated into electronic applications that include solar energy conversion, thermoelectrics and LEDs.

Evident’s CEO, Dr Clint Ballinger stated that they were thrilled that Samsung Electronics had accredited their quantum dot technology and are enthusiastic about what the future holds.

Evident Technologies is at present concentrating on developing advanced thermoelectric applications by utilizing their quantum dot technology. Dr Ballinger also stated that they intended to enhance the functioning of their thermoelectric devices with considerable developments in nano-materials. Thermoelectric products can be applied in solid-state heating and cooling. They can also help directly change waste heat into electricity.
