Research and Markets has added a book titled "Understanding Microelectronics: A Top-Down Approach" to its offering. The author Franco Maloberti uses a top-down method to explain in detail the fundamentals of electronics.

The book presents a unique approach that aids student to retain the concepts in electronic studies; covers the sub functions as well as basic components and circuits; details the evolution of CAD (computer aided design) for high-level design; details power management and power conversion; includes self-training sections and lists websites with interactive ElvisLAB for students to conduct virtual experiments.
The microelectronics evolution has not only resulted in modern benefits but has also changed attitudes to learning and design methodologies, especially since complex circuit systems have resulted in high-level description. To enable easy understanding, the author shifted from a bottom-up approach to a top-down approach, which illustrates the view of global electronics before delving into the specifics.
The author explains signals, their properties and processing functions with theory, verification of results and examples with minimal signal processing theory and mathematics.
The topics covered in the book include circuits for systems, data converters, signal processing, data processing circuits, electronic systems, digital building cells, analog building cells, power management and power conversion, signal measure and signal generation.
Professor Franco Maloberti holds 30 patents and has authored over 450 published papers on conference proceedings and journals. His other books include “Analogue-Digital ASICs - Circuit techniques, design tools and applications”, "Tecnologiedeicircuitiintegratidedicati", "Analog Design for CMOS VLSI Systems" and "Data Converters."
