Smithers Rapra has announced the programme for the High Performance Polymers for Oil & Gas 2014 conference, taking place from 15-16 April at The Crowne Plaza – The Roxburghe, Edinburgh, Scotland, featuring expert speakers from across the supply chain.
Over 18 speakers will be presenting at the two day conference including: Cameron, Baker Hughes, Greene, Tweed & Co, FMC Technologies and Technip, with a keynote address from John Lawson, Senior Technology Advisor at Chevron.
After nearly 16 years, this market leading event will take place in a new location and provide a new and extended focus into the full spectrum of polymeric materials used within oil and gas recovery, including high performance composites and elastomers.
As new oil and gas recovery environments exhibit greater challenges, High Performance Polymers for Oil & Gas 2014 creates a forum to drive essential, revolutionary changes in material property requirements and application specific composites. By discussing the current and impending challenges within this industry and reviewing the fundamentals in polymeric design, we can work together to evoke changes necessary to operate effectively in the future and avail of the opportunities offered to this market.
The programme will feature operator insights, contractor challenges and original technical research. The peer-research agenda will address current challenges and opportunities within six key sessions focused on: application challenges and future requirements, corrosion and failure, nanotechnology, harsh temperature environments, polymer ageing and fatigue and the modeling of future materials.
The programme will include a discussion on the meaningful contributions nanotechnology can make to oil and gas recovery, this powerful panel will be chaired by Tim Bremner, VP of Materials Technology, Hoerbiger and discussed by panellists: Dr. Hung-Jue Sue, Co-Director of the Consortium for Advancing Performance Polymers in Energy Applications (APPEAL), Professor and Director of the Polymer Technology Center at Texas A&M University; Michaël Claes, Global Technical Director, Nanocyl; and Gobet Advincula, Case Western Reserve University.
