Today, Thomas Swan announced plans to bring forward the scale-up of their Elicarb® Graphene products. Originally scheduled for year-end 2014, the first integrated kg/day process will now be completed by September 2014.
Due to the excellent progress made in process development and the high level of commercial interest in graphene products the change in schedule was recently approved by the Thomas Swan board.
“Reliability and quality in carbon nanomaterials” – existing carbon nanotube plant at Thomas Swan, Consett.
“We are delighted with the decision to support an accelerated plan” said Paul Ladislaus, SeniorProcess Technologist, Advanced Materials Division “thanks to the work we have completed to date we know exactly what we need to build and how to build it”.
“As a well-established speciality and performance chemical manufacturer Thomas Swan is perfectly placed to develop and scale-up novel materials processes such as this”, added Ladislaus.
The new graphene process builds upon Thomas Swan’s proven ability in carbon nanomaterials supply adding to existing capability in carbon nanotube production. Elicarb® Graphene Powder and Elicarb® Graphene Dispersion are now available for sale. These products are based upon a proprietary, liquid exfoliation process which produces high conductivity, few layer graphene nanoplatelets with average X-Y dimensions of 1 micron.
The Elicarb® Graphene products will be introduced to the USA market at TechConnect, Washington, D.C., USA 15th to 19th June – exhibition stand #212 and presentation at Graphene II (Monday 15th June at Potomac 5).
