A prestigious award for export has been presented to Thomas Swan at the 2015 North East Exporters awards dinner, held on 25th June.
Mr. Swan (L), Chairman of Thomas Swan, receiving the award from Jerry Hopkinson, Managing Director - Bulks and Port Services, PD Ports.
The special recognition award is presented to a company that the judges feel should receive acknowledgement for its contribution to the export industry within the North East of England.
In this category the winner was chosen by judges from the four main sponsors of the event HSBC, UKTI, NECC and PD Ports, it was not open for entries making the accolade even more significant.
The extensive criteria the judges took into consideration included:
- Product range being exported
- Complexity and number of markets served
- Development of export strategy
- Percentage of growth in export sales
- Impact on the region
Thomas Swan exports over 70% of sales to 80 countries with a strategy of investing in innovative products and procedures. The Company has offices and warehousing in the UK, USA and China, serving a global network of distributors and customers. Total export turnover has grown from 65% of sales to 72% of sales in the last financial year ending March 2014. The business has the benefit of the flexibility and independence of a family run operation that employs over 150 people in skilled roles.
