Plextronics,
Inc. announced today that after a competitive review of
submitted proposals, the Pennsylvania NanoMaterials Commercialization
Center's Center's technical advisory committee and governing board
approved funding for Plextronics and two other companies.
Plextronics was awarded $250,000 from the Center in Air Force
Research Laboratories funding to develop semi-continuous processing
technology for organic photovoltaic devices. The company is providing
$250,000 in matching funds.
According to the Center's press release, Dr. Alan Brown,
executive director of the Center, said, "The addition of the three new
companies to the Center's project portfolio further demonstrated the
broad application of nanomaterials to a wide range of products and
industries, including energy, electronics, polymers and metals."
The other two companies that received funding were
Pittsburgh-based NanoLambda Inc. and Philadelphia-based Y-Carbon Inc.
