Thermo Fisher Scientific Announces European Launch of Thermo Scientific OMNIC Specta Software for Raman Applications

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announces the European launch of the Thermo Scientific OMNIC Specta software for Raman applications. The powerful new software solution is being launched in Europe and will be displayed on booth B1-C11, Hall
6.1 at ACHEMA 2009 in Frankfurt, Germany, from May 11 - 15.

Previously available only on FT-IR instruments, the new OMNIC Specta is a major innovation for Raman technology, providing immediate results regardless of the experience of the user. This software is the latest addition to the Thermo Scientific product line that is committed to making spectroscopy accessible to a wide, non-specialist audience. Thermo Fisher will be highlighting two application areas on booth at Achema, demonstrating its easy to use solutions for those working in QA/QC in pharmaceutical and polymer industries.

OMNIC Specta for Raman spectroscopy has been designed to achieve remarkable productivity and sensitivity improvements in fast-paced environments that need to analyze the molecular composition of raw materials, production processes and finished goods. Enhanced data presentation features for multi-component searching transforms OMNIC Specta to a highly efficient method for one-step identification of complex materials. This eliminates time consuming and subjective search-and-subtract iterations and brings new efficiency and accuracy to all users, no matter their expertise level, that need to fully identify unknown components in material mixtures.

For pharmaceutical applications, Thermo Fisher offers a wide range of cutting-edge, cost-effective spectroscopy solutions for raw material identification and QA/QC. From rugged and reproducible NIR, to easy, accurate FT-IR, Raman and UV-Vis solutions, customers can easily identify and qualify samples quickly and reliably. Thermo Scientific molecular spectroscopy instrumentation, demonstrated on booth B1-C11, delivers easy-to-use solutions for raw material ID, tablet analysis, reaction monitoring, polymorph characterization, QBD manufacturing, root cause analysis, out of spec investigations and many more critical pharmaceutical applications.

Also on booth Thermo Fisher will showcase its industry-leading portfolio of easy-to-use spectroscopy solutions for polymer applications, including FT-NIR, IR-microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and UV-Vis techniques designed to optimize analyses, streamline workflows and improve results. These powerful techniques can be easily and broadly applied to a wide range of analytical problems, including chemical analysis, materials characterization, layers composition, surface treatments and color analysis. These techniques do not require complicated sample preparation like other spectroscopic techniques and can be used to quickly and easily identify or quantify polymer precursors, raw materials or finished product.
