BAM Lists World-Wide Available Nano-Scale Reference Materials on its Website

BAM has listed the world-wide commercially available nano-scale reference materials on its website as well as links to manufacturers and vendors: http://www.nano-refmat.bam.de

Nanotechnologies stand at the threshold to industrial use. Standards help convert innovations into marketable products. BAM intensively supports the international standardization for nanotechnologies (for example in ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies or CEN/TC 352 Nanotechnologies). New requirements arose for calibrating the highly sensitive measurement procedures used in nanotechnologies.

About 65 nano-scale reference materials of different categories (step grating, nanoobjects, porosity…) are currently listed under the above link. Certified reference materials (CRMs) of the highest quality are included and these are usually offered by the national and European metrological state institutes (PTB/BAM, IRMM, NIST, AIST,…). Reference materials offered by companies or research institutes where the data necessary from a metrological point of view may be incomplete are also included. The compilation is being updated regularly.

A data sheet in pdf format can be downloaded for each reference material. The sheets contain quantitative data on the mean value and uncertainty, information about the area of application and links to the respective manufacturer/vendor.

Suggestions, criticism or comments to the reference material list are welcome.
