Dolomite
is delighted to announce its sponsorship of 5 undergraduate students of the
University of Waterloo, Canada, in developing a new micropump technology as
part of the Nanotechnology Engineering Programme.
The aim of the project is to develop a completely on-chip microfluidic pump,
which is portable, energy efficient and eliminates the need for external equipment.
Designed to be integrated directly into a microfluidic device, the new micropump
will enable lab-on-a chip applications, such as biosensors for heart attack
prediction and screening.
The project combines micro-fabrication techniques, computer-aided modelling
methods, circuit design and analysis, as well as microfluidic systems design.
The results, including a working prototype, will be displayed at the Nanotechnology
Engineering Symposium on 26th March 2010 (University of Waterloo campus, Davis
Centre atrium).
