Pall Releases PKP Chromatography Systems and Resolute FM Columns

Pall has included the PKP Chromatography systems and Resolute FM columns in their chromatography portfolio. The new systems enable clients from biotech, vaccine and plasma segments to quickly scale-up from the bench scale to the pilot level of production.

Pall’s new chromatography systems further fortify the company’s capability to offer complete bioprocess systems to their clients by providing the required tools that assure process enhancement before venturing into a total process scale development.

Ken Frank, Senior Vice President of Pall and President of Pall’s Biopharmaceutical Division, has stated that clients can use their chromatography solutions to substitute their current chromatography device, improving the present infrastructure or scaling up a new method, resulting in an enhanced output and cost -effectiveness.

The new chromatography systems feature a compact layout. Their flow path does not include pipes and the entire system is made of stainless steel. All these features assure reliable performance within the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), minimize hold-up volume and enable effective clean-up up to 80°C.

The PKP systems are exclusively developed for offering optimum functionality in an extremely adaptive working condition. They offer an extended flow range between 1 and 150 L/h, enabling users to enhance output, quality and process repeatability. This flexibility is helpful at the pilot scale of production, when throughput of the system becomes even more complicated and purity of the product is of a major concern. The chromatography systems can also be used for several process optimization operations.

The new Resolute FM columns can be availed in three diameters including 100 mm, 140 mm and 200 mm. Its novel tilting option enables removal of air, avoids handling a bulky adjustor using manual methods and reliance on the proficiency of the operator. The layout of the Resolute FM column enables easy operating methods to facilitate repeatable packing and unpacking of the commonly used chromatography sorbents. When compared to the currently available pilot columns, resolute columns feature simple layout with lesser parts. Its glass tube is made of borosilicate and the flow path is made of stainless steel. All these features offer superior chemical stability and assure a completely cleanable column.

According to Frank, their company is committed to offering a complete range of chromatography products right from the laboratory scale to the production scale.
