Nano-Crystal Coat Technology for Enhanced Live Cell Imaging

Nikon Instruments recently unveiled its CFI60 Plan Apochromat Lambda Series using its in house Nano-Crystal Coat technology to enhance the transmission rate spanning a wide gamut.

The coating enables designers to lower flare and ensure high-contrast picture clarity across the whole wavelength range from UV to near infrared of 750nm.

This series reduces photo-toxic damage caused to live cells and helps imaging over a long period because of their capacity to enhance emission brightness using minimum simulation intensity.

The solution is anti-reflective. The crystallized nano-particles help remove ghost effects due to red light and efficiently lower flare effects. This improves S/N (Signal to Noise) resulting from light penetrating the lens at sharp angles. This enables the high NA lenses to accept the sharp light angles and deliver high resolution.

High resolution using a high NA is possible at any enlargement. The objective has a high NA of 1.45, helping clear images of nano structures to be captured. The brightness of the lenses reduces the stimulated light, that helps reduce the photobleaching effects.

The objectives rectify chromatic defects across a wide wavelength range from 435 to 850nm enabling crystal clear images during multi-wavelength picture capturing. The focus shifts across all wavelengths can be corrected to maintain the focus point during the process of switching between dyes. This procedure will deliver enhanced co-localization data when viewing the structure in a live cell with different fluorescence proteins in confocal, widefield, or high resolution multi-spectral imaging.

Flat images are maintained for all objectives ranging from low to high enlargements. The objectives feature enhanced acute top lens design delivering increased clearance around the top to render them less prone to disturb the specimen chamber and allow cell manipulations.
