BD Biosciences Launches BDFACSVerse Flow Cytometer

BD Biosciences, a division of BD Dickinson has introduced the BD FACSVerse Flow Cytometer which is a reliable, flexible and scalable system capable of analyzing up to 10 parameters and supporting an extensive range of research applications.

James Glasscock, who is the President of Cell Analysis in BD, reveals that they had developed the BD FACS Verse System as a highly innovative device mainly to offer researchers a single system capable of handling routine applications together with complex multi-color experiments with reproducibility and precision. Further, they wanted to reorganize the workflow to make the system easy to use. They also needed to protect their customers’ investment by upgrading them from 6 parameters to 10 parameters and also give them multiple optional capacities useful for research purposes.

The users could make use of automation in routine tasks such as setup, instrument startup, data analysis, sample acquisition and also complete other tasks with minimum amount of clicks, with the help of the BD FAC Suite Software System. The modular architecture of the software package would be useful for the users to multitask i.e. they could conduct a data analysis even while the system was obtaining the data. Glasscock also divulges that the software ensures that the need for the spill over correction on a daily basis does not arise. The BD FACSuite Software helps in exporting the experiments and assays to other BD FACSVerse Systems worldwide, overcoming the normally experienced user-related and system variances.

The BD FACS Verse Flow Cytometer is being offered in 4-color, 8-color and 6-color configurations with side and forward scatter support available up to 10 total parameters. With a small footprint this system could very easily be fixed on standard laboratory bench tops.
