SWeNT Founder to be A Featured Speaker at New Industrial Chemistry Workshop

Daniel Resasco, founder and chief scientist of SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc. (SWeNT) the world leader in high quality, Single-Wall and Specialty Multi-Wall (SMW) carbon nanotubes (CNT), is a featured speaker at New Industrial Chemistry and Engineering (NIChE) Workshop on Wednesday, September 22nd at 4:45-5:30 p.m.

The event, sponsored by the Council of Chemical Research runs from September 21-22nd at the University of Delaware. Resasco, an expert on catalyst technology, will be speaking during Session 3 which is focused on feedstock upgrading, reduction and heteroatom handling as part of a workshop on the current state of catalysis and process technologies. Resasco will describe the use of nanohybrids produced at SWeNT for the upgrading of biofuels in biphasic emulsion systems, a process recently described in a Science article.

The workshop will evaluate new process technologies such as photochemical, electrochemical, or reforming for generating hydrogen to meet the growing demand at bio-refineries and will present case studies of successful projects that deploy renewable and alternative feedstocks. The transition from oil and natural gas to renewable or alternative feedstocks for transportation fuels and chemicals will require significant advances in catalysis science and engineering.

Resasco directs the carbon nanotube research team that invented the CoMoCAT catalytic process that is SWeNTs patented technology. He is also the Douglas and Hilda Bourne Chair of Chemical Engineering and George Lynn Cross Research Professor at the University of Oklahoma. Resasco holds numerous industrial patents and has been principal investigator on many federal and state research grants. A former senior scientist for Sun Oil Co., he is a frequent industrial consultant for Fortune 500 energy and chemical companies and a sought-after speaker at industrial and academic conferences.
