Samsung Unveils 32 nm HKMG Logic Low Power Process-Based Application Processor

Samsung Electronics has expanded its Exynos product portfolio with the introduction of a dual core ARM Cortex application processor called the Exynos 4212, developed on its sophisticated 32 nm High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) logic low-power process technology.

Samsung’s 32 nm HKMG logic low-power process node technology is specially designed to provide an advanced platform with a 30% less power level and two folds the logic density compared to earlier versions.

The Exynos 4212

The Exynos 4212 offers a novel solution to designers of mobile device systems for the improvement of energy efficiency and user experience demands of tablet devices and smartphones. Samsung has exhibited the novel product at the eighth annual Samsung Mobile Solutions Forum conducted at the Westin Taipei.

The dual core ARM Cortex application processor increases the processing power by 25% and has a upgraded graphics processing unit, which can deliver 50% more three-dimensional graphics performance compared to the earlier generation processors of Samsung.

The Exynos 4212 features an on-chip HDMI 1.4 interface, an image signal processor and a wide range of sophisticated codec accelerators, which support play-back, video recording and still images at 1080 p full-HD resolution.

Seh-Woong Jeong, who serves as Executive Vice President of System LSI sales & marketing, Device Solutions at Samsung Electronics, stated that the company offers the powerful low-power Exynos portfolio of processors for the enhancement of power and performance at the system level.
