Crocus Technology, a company specializing in magnetically enhanced semiconductors, has entered into a research and development deal with Kintech Laboratory, a Russian research company dealing in advanced multi-scale software tools and methodologies for modeling and analyzing the properties of devices, materials and processes.
As per the deal, Kintech Laboratory will devise a modeling platform and conduct comprehensive physical simulation of TAS MLU memory cell of Crocus Technology in order to understand the nano-scale performance of the memory cell, thus allowing Crocus Technology to enhance processing and materials for improved reliability and functionality.
Crocus Technology had made an announcement of $5 million investment in research organizations in Russia in May 2011 for the development of advanced technology and production solutions. This collaboration with Kintech Laboratory indicates the first step to achieve the goal proposed in Crocus Technology’s deal with RUSNANO for the development of sophisticated magnetic nanotechnology science and production in Russia.
Director of Magnetic Technology Engineering at Crocus Technology, Ken MacKay stated that the company is pleased to partner with Kintech Laboratory to develop advanced modeling for the company’s magnetic logic unit technology. The vast experience in physics and modeling of Kintech Laboratory will be helpful to Crocus Technology as it shift its process technologies to advanced lithography.
Kintech Laboratory’s Chief Executive Officer, Boris Potapkin stated that this collaboration with Crocus Technology is laying the groundwork for model-based sophisticated nano-magnetic research in Russia. The company anticipates working with Crocus Technology to solve necessary problems for the implementation of advanced technologies.
