SiTime, a company specializing in silicon MEMS solutions, has so far shipped over 100 million units of MEMS oscillators, resonators, and clock generators in total.
SiTime's Silicon MEMS timing solutions have been adopted by more than 800 electronics companies in over 100 unique applications. The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Rajesh Vashist stated that SiTime's innovative MEMS and analog technology has initiated a transition in the timing industry with groundbreaking products that deliver unprecedented performance, consistency and versatility. Now, the company’s products demonstrate a 250-fold higher stability and jitter when compared to its first product introduced in 2007 and the company continues its development at this rate.
Moreover, SiTime's MEMS timing products are up to 500 folds better in reliability when compared to quartz oscillators. Almost all key electronics companies have either used SiTime's MEMS solutions in their products or are assessing the company’s unique timing solutions. Very soon MEMS oscillators will surpass the volumes of legacy quartz oscillators.
Mark Sherwood, who serves as Principal Associate at Consulting Services & Associates (CS&A), a company focusing on semiconductor timing, stated that SiTime is transforming the timing industry with its novel MEMS-based products. CS&A’s research reported that SiTime entered into the list of top 10 oscillator providers in 2011. Over the last six months, SiTime has launched new precision and ultra-precision class products that attain minimum femtoseconds of integrated RMS phase jitter and noise, and 0.5 PPM TCXO performance at industrial temperature. These new products will step up the implementation of silicon MEMS timing solutions as the ideal timing component over quartz crystals in electronics.
