ON Semiconductor Now Provides Digital Products in 65 and 40 nm Process Technologies

ON Semiconductor, a premier supplier of high performance silicon solutions for energy efficient electronics, in collaboration with key foundry partners, now offers a broad portfolio of digital products in 65 nanometer (nm) and 40 nm process technologies.

This expanded foundry partnership will enable the company to continue to support its military, aerospace and industrial customers with industry-leading application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and application specific standard products (ASSPs), targeting secure encryption chips and commercial military avionics devices, as well as a variety of industrial applications, like GPS systems, instrumentation, and industrial automation equipment.

Through these collaborations, ON Semiconductor provides cost-effective production while still offering its customers chips which fully comply with the stringent International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Customers will also now have access to a more extensive portfolio of licensed intellectual property (IP), including the latest ARM processor cores, high-speed SERDES (such as PCI Express, Fiber Channel and 10 Gbit Ethernet), DDR 3 RAM memory, USB 3.0 interconnection, and more. In addition, the company’s products now comply with military/aerospace Do254 and AES9100 standards.

“Through the technology partnerships that we have developed with some of the world’s leading foundry service companies, ON Semiconductor continues to hold a very strong position within the marketplace, and now has the added capacity to address both high-end and cost-sensitive design requirements,” said Vince Hopkin, vice president, Digital, Mil/Aero and Image Sensor products division at ON Semiconductor. “By making use of the IP licensed from our foundry partners to supplement that of technology partners such as ARM and Synopsys, as well as our own proprietary IP, we can embed feature-rich, highly integrated functionality into products that will meet the performance requirements of even the most demanding of applications.”
