Oxford Instruments Enters Distribution Agreement for Dune Sciences FIB Sample Preparation Equipment

Oxford Instruments and Dune Sciences, Inc. have entered into an exclusive worldwide distribution agreement to sell Silicon Half Grids for in situ lift-out.  The Dune Sciences' Silicon Half Grids will be offered for sale on the Omniprobe Products eStore, alongside other consumables and holders for nanofabrication and nanomanipulation.

Silicon Half Grids for in situ FIB sample preparation provide a dramatic improvement in the preparation of specimens for TEM, tomography, and atom probe from virtually any material.  Cryogenic applications benefit from the superior rigidity that stands up to multiple handling steps.  Silicon provides an ultra-clean, metal-free substrate that readily bonds with platinum and can easily be modified to match sample geometry.

Silicon Half Grids are currently available in three configurations to provide the ultimate flexibility for reproducible, quality samples and resulting high-resolution imaging. The standard configuration has a single mounting flat with a beveled mounting surface that mates well to the lamella.

John Miller, president of Dune Sciences, stated "Dune is excited to offer Silicon Half Grids in partnership with the leader in FIB nanomanipulation solutions".   Cheryl Hartfield, Business Manager, Omniprobe Products, added, "We are pleased to offer our customers new and innovative solutions for lift-out. Dune Sciences' Silicon Half Grids provide unique advantages for improved sample preparation and high quality results".
