The SID Display Component of the Year Silver Honor has been awarded to Canatu in recognition of their Carbon NanoBud film and ongoing commitment to innovation in the touch display product industry.
Canatu, a manufacturer of zero reflectance, transparent conductive films and touch sensors, has received a prestigious Display Component of the Year Silver Award from Society for Information Display (SID). Award winners were announced on June 3, 2014 during Display Week 2014: The SID Annual International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition in San Diego, California.
Presented by the SID, the 2014 Display Industry Awards (DIAs) recognize innovative display products, components, and applications that hold the most promise for shaping the future of the global display industry. The DIAs are awarded each year with Gold and Silver honors in three categories: Display of the Year, Display Application of the Year, and Display Component of the Year.
“We are delighted to award Canatu Oy the 2014 Display Component of the Year Silver Honor for its Carbon NanoBud film,” said Wei Chen, SID’s Display Industry Awards Committee Chairman. “The Display Industry Awards are SID’s highest honor, presented to recognize the best display products or applications introduced to the market during the previous calendar year. The quality and competitiveness of the nominations are extraordinarily high this year due to the significant technology breakthroughs we saw in many of the products introduced to the market in 2013. On behalf of SID, we would like to commend Canatu Oy’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to helping shape the future of display performance and solutions."
“We are honoured to receive SID’s Display Component of the Year Silver Award for our CNB Film,” says Risto Vuohelainen, CEO at Canatu. “During the past years we have invested significantly in the commercialisation of our Carbon NanoBud material and have continually refined and developed the manufacturing process to meet our customers’ high production demands for the next generation of flat, flexible and formable touch screens and touch sensitive devices,” continues Vuohelainen.
Canatu’s CNB Film, made from carbon nanotubes and fullerenes, provides superior optical performance for flat, flexible, or formable touch screens, displays and touch-sensitive surfaces. CNB Film is used in capacitive touch sensors for portable devices such as mobile phones, tablets and digital cameras and in automobiles; all applications that require excellent display readability in outdoor and bright indoor environments. CNB™ Films are also applied in capacitive touch sensors for flexible or formable devices such as smart watches, flexible and foldable mobile phones and tablets and automobile center consoles.
Canatu is a leading developer and manufacturer of transparent conductive films and touch sensors for an entirely new class of touch applications. Canatu’s transparent conductive films and touch sensors are based on a new type of carbon nanomaterial (Carbon NanoBud®), and a new, single-step manufacturing process combining aerosol synthesis of CNB material and Roll-to-Roll deposition by Direct Dry Printing®. Canatu offers consumer electronics companies the ultimate design freedom with its innovative patents. www.canatu.com
About the DIA
The Display Industry Awards (DIA) are the most prestigious awards in the display industry. Each year since 1995, SID’s international awards committee—comprising a distinguished panel of display luminaries—has honored the most innovative display products, components, and applications with the greatest promise of shaping the future of the display industry. This year’s DIAs will be presented at the SID International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition, also known as Display Week 2014—the premier international gathering of scientists, engineers, manufacturers and users in the field of electronic information displays. Display Week 2014 will be held in June in San Diego, California. For more information on the DIAs or Display Week 2014, please visit www.displayweek.org.
The Society of Information Display (SID) is the only professional organization focused on the display industry. In fact, by exclusively focusing on the advancement of electronic-display technology, SID provides a unique platform for industry collaboration, communication and training in all related technologies while showcasing the industry's best new products. With more than 6,000 members worldwide, the organization’s members are professionals in the technical and business disciplines that relate to display research, design, manufacturing, applications, marketing and sales. To promote industry and academic technology development, while also educating consumers on the importance of displays, SID hosts more than 10 conferences a year, including Display Week, which brings industry and academia all under one roof to showcase technology that will shape the future. SID’s global headquarters are located at 1475 S. Bascom Ave., Ste. 114, Campbell, CA 95008. For more information, visit www.sid.org.
