temicon and holotools Join Forces to Speed up Market Introduction of Nanostructure Technologies

The two German high-tech companies temicon GmbH and holotools GmbH join forces to expand their product portfolio in the area of micro and nanotechnologies. In the future they are going to operate under the corporate roof of temicon, continuing the well established brand “holotools” as their trademark for laser interference lithography.

Both companies have been working together successfully over many years using complementary technologies in the production chain of high-tech components for optical, medical, solar and environmental applications.

Volkmar Boerner, managing director of holotools GmbH and future head of business development at temicon: “This is a very important step! It improves and speeds up market introduction of our nanostructure technologies, which will save energy and natural resources. Our two companies are a perfect match at a perfect time.”

Dr. Oliver Humbach, CEO of temicon GmbH: “We have prepared this merger very thoroughly. The teams in Dortmund and Freiburg work together excellently. We are convinced, that the integration of our technologies under one roof will lay off a new drive in further market development – for the benefit of our customers”

About temicon
temicon is a leading supplier of nanoimprint tools, injection molds, metal micro parts and stencils with functional micro- and nanostructured patterns. Since the company was founded in 2005 it has consistently established its worldwide unique technology platform in the fields of lithographic micro and nanostructuring, electroforming and various nanoimprint techniques. temicon’s innovative products have found their way into numerous areas of application: LED, OLED lighting, display technology, solar technology, medical engineering, environmental engineering and many more. The company uses lithographic methods, thin-film technologies and electroforming for the production of micro- and nanostructures – with special focus on large formats. The production takes place in excellently equipped fabrication and cleanroom facilities in Dortmund, Germany.

About holotools
holotools designs and manufactures functional surfaces for light management and other applications. The company was founded in 2001 by engineers and scientists of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany. Extensive technological know-how has been developed in micro optics, lithography processes and micro patterning techniques. A strong focus has been set on the realisation of uniform micro- and nanostructures on large areas without any seamlines - the key success factor for commercial use in many applications. holotools uses large scale interference lithography as core technology to achieve this goal, and acts as an enabling company. It creates added-value for customers by providing embossing tools to functionalize surfaces of polymer products. The small German high-tech enterprise is the only company in the world producing sub-wavelength periodical antireflection structures without any seamline on areas of up to 40” diagonal with the performance, the uniformity and the cosmetic quality required to be used in commercial production. This is just one of many examples demonstrating holotools' world-wide leading edge position.
