MiraMEMS Introduces Smallest eCompass with 3-axis Accelerometer and Magnetometer

MiraMEMS, a leading MEMS sensor and solution provider, today announced the world's smallest eCompass combining a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis magnetometer, which is pin to pin compatible with the g-sensor family and can provide a gyroscope feature with software supported.

With the MiraMEMS XmotionTM software enabled, the da213/da312 eCompass products provide 9 DoF (Degree of Freedom) with soft gyroscope while they are able to help smartphone and wearable device customers enjoy this new feature under a limited cost budget.

"The dc series single chip eCompass is among the smallest in the world. It integrates a high performance three axis accelerometer and three axis magnetometer in a small area," said David Wang, president of MiraMEMS Sensing Technology Co., Ltd. "As the great achievements of more than one decade of R&D investments, I'm very pleased to share these fruits of our labor with our customers, with the use of our XmotionTM software, we can provide a gyroscope function to budget limited smart devices without the high cost and power consumption of gyroscope hardware."

dc213 is in the 2mm x 1mm x 1.1mm LGA package, and the dc312 is in the 3mm x3mm x1.0mm. Both of them are pin to pin compatible with the g-sensor family for easy upgrading to eCompass with no hardware change needed. MiraMEMS' 6 axis eCompass combo sensor provides the same performance as discrete sensors but in a limited space, which can significantly reduce customer's cost and PCB area. Incorporated with the XmotionTM software solution, middle to low-end smartphones can also run sophisticated 9 DoF motion games, without suffering the high cost and power consumption of gyro hardware.
