Optimized ZEISS OPMI PENTERO 800 Surgical Microscope Enables Better Visualization in Complex Reconstructive Surgery

The capabilities of the OPMI® PENTERO® 800 surgical microscopes from ZEISS for reconstructive surgery have been enhanced by the introduction of the INFRARED 800 module.

The optimized ZEISS OPMI PENTERO 800 package is a highly useful tool for clinical specialists, which enables the intraoperative assessment of blood flow, easy maneuverability, and higher magnification for performing complex reconstructive surgeries.

Clinical surgeons performing complex surgeries on intricate structures require a good quality image, a clear visualization of blood flow and easy microscope maneuverability.

ZEISS has enhanced the OPMI PENTERO 800 by introducing the INFRARED 800 in order to meet the niche requirements of reconstructive surgery, particularly for lymphedema supermicrosurgery, breast reconstruction and oral and maxillofacial surgery.

We are pleased to present the visualization solution that addresses the specific challenges posed by the demanding field of reconstructive surgery. OPMI PENTERO 800 with INFRARED 800 is designed to assist and support clinicians during the crucial phase of intraoperative decision-making.

The INFRARED 800 for OPMI PENTERO 800 enables intraoperative visual assessment of blood flow and vessel patency. This capability is an add-on to the precision optics of OPMI PENTERO 800 surgical microscope. During surgical procedures surgeons can clearly visualize blood flow dynamics with the INFRARED 800 fluorescence technology as it enables the detection and recording of fluorescent light, which is invisible to human eye. The INFRARED 800 is completely integrated into the surgical microscope, and can be activated easily by pressing a button.

For operating intricate sub-millimeter anatomical structures, suitable levels of magnification are required. Magnification levels of up to 39 times can be achieved by the OPMI PENTERO 800. Operating the microscope can be done flexibly and effortlessly without having to use any external attachments.

Clinical surgeons can flexibly position and effortlessly maneuver the microscope whilst performing surgeries, which is made possible by the free-floating motion of the OPMI PENTERO 800 and INFRARED 800 system. The intelligent XY function facilitates precise positioning for easy visualization of patient anatomy.

By using AutoDrape®, AutoFokus™ and AutoBalance™, the efficiency of workflow and the clinician’s comfort are further enhanced. These enhancements facilitate quick OR setup, automatic fine focus on the area of interest, and fast balancing, without the need for elaborate manual adjustments.
