MEMSCAP,
the leading provider of innovative solutions based on MEMS
(micro-electro-mechanical systems) technology, today announces it has
been selected by Diehl Aerospace for the Airbus Military A400M
airlifter. MEMSCAP will supply the A400M with its Digital Pressure
Transducers that is a key element of the Doors Control and Monitoring
System (DCMS) embarked by Diehl onboard the A400M, a military transport
aircraft which is characterised through its very high payload, its
cruising speed and its range.
Diehl Aerospace offers system solutions and equipment for
cockpit, cabin, flight controls and engine controls. Airbus, Boeing,
Eurocopter as well as Bombardier and Embraer are among the key
customers of Diehl Aerospace, which plays a decisive role in the
development and delivery of equipment systems. Diehl Aerospace has
captured a leading position as a system supplier for door control and
monitoring systems, and within this frame, has received a contract from
Airbus for the design, development and series production of the Airbus
A400M DCMS (Doors Control and Monitoring System). This technology will
then be extended to other aircraft programs for civil and general
aviation.
MEMSCAP TP3100 001A12, MEMS Digital Pressure Transducer will
be the sensor part of the Cabin Pressure Detector (CPD). First units
have already been delivered by MEMSCAP, and the duration of the program
is planned to exceed 2015. The Module supplied to Diehl for Airbus
A400M is a fully customized, fully compensated version of the TP3100,
with built in self test functions, based on MEMSCAP SP82 pressure
sensor.
Based on the Doors and Slides Management System developed by
Diehl Aerospace for the Airbus A380, the DCMS for the A400M is a new
electronic system which is responsible for centralized monitoring and
hydraulical control of the ramp and cargo doors as well as for escape
hatches.
The sensors supplied by MEMSCAP enable the control system to
know the pressure difference from outside the aircraft compared to the
cabin pressure inside the aircraft. Different to civil aircraft the
ramp, cargo door and paratrooper doors of the A400M have to be opened
safely during flight requiring a very precise pressure information.
“We chose MEMSCAP for this program because it was the only
company which could demonstrate its ability to meet our needs for
proven technology and extreme flexibility. MEMSCAP also offers an
uninterrupted track record of quality and reliability and these are key
elements for our customer”, explains Wolfgang Schwarz, DCMS
Program Manager at Diehl Aerospace.
Used in over 40,000 aircrafts, MEMSCAP sensors compute
millions of successful flight hours, in multiple fixed wing and
helicopter applications ranging from altimeters, air data computers,
air speed instruments, engine control systems and cabin pressure
systems. The flexibility, versatility and reliability of the MEMSCAP
sensor systems make it the number one choice of all aeronautics and
aircrafts manufacturers, from military to general aviation.
“Diehl is a leader in the aeronautics
market”, states Jan Hallenstvedt, General Manager of MEMSCAP
Standard Products Business Unit. “Being chosen by Diehl
demonstrates once more the unique advantages of MEMSCAP technology and
products, and validates our entering a new market segments with cabin
pressure sensing components."
