Book Discusses Major Types of Membranes such as Microfiltration and Nanofiltration Membranes

Research and Markets has announced the addition of John Wiley and Sons Ltd's new report "Advanced Membrane Technology and Applications" to their offering.

This book covers the fundamental principles of separation and purification by membranes, the chemistry of formulating membranes, the important aspects of membrane manufacturing, the systems for quality management including the use of Six Sigma in membrane research and manufacturing, and the many applications that membranes now have. The future prospects and the strategically important issues in membrane technology will be discussed.

The book will also include coverage of all the major types of membranes, i.e. ultrafiltration membranes, microfiltration membranes, nanofiltration membranes, reverse osmosis membranes, including the recent high-flux and low pressure membranes, and the anti-fouling membranes, as well as the membranes for gas separations and membranes for fuel cell uses.

Although there are books on membranes, this book will be first to devote a considerable portion to discussions of the formulation and industrial manufacture of membranes and the use of quality management system, Six Sigma. This is in addition to the coverage of the fundamental principles and theories of separation and purification by membranes, the important membrane processes and systems, and major industrial applications.

Key Topics Covered:

  • I. MEMBRANES AND APPLICATIONS IN WATER AND WASTEWATER
  • II. MEMBRANES FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY AND CHEMICAL / BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS
  • III. GAS SEPARATIONS
  • IV. MEMBRANE CONTACTORS AND REACTORS
  • V. ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY APPLICATIONS
  • VI. MEMBRANE MATERIALS AND CHARACTERIZATION
