The department was established in 1917 and is currently the second largest department in the College of Engineering. We offer ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The undergraduate learning experience is enhanced by the optional cooperative education program that provides a coordinated sequence of alternate periods of classroom instruction and employment. At the graduate level, we offer a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (M.Sc.E.E.) and an interdisciplinary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Engineering. The M.Sc.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees allow a specialization in Computer Engineering, or in any field of electrical engineering. The college also offers an Engineering Management master’s degree in conjunction with the College of Business, an Engineering Applied Mathematics Ph.D. degree in conjunction with the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mathematics, and a joint program for the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in conjunction with the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM).
Our faculty have diverse educational, industrial and research experience, and work actively in most of the principal areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The many interdisciplinary interactions among the faculty and the students promote an excellent scholarly atmosphere for teaching and learning in the department.
