While conventional ultrafiltration membranes may be thousands of nanometers in thickness, UltraSM® membranes are less than 50 nm thin. This results in pores that have an aspect ratio of approximately one to one. In addition to their thickness, conventional polymeric membranes typically have tortuous path pore channels that can reduce efficiency and trap molecules. SiMPore's membranes have straight through-pores that minimize resistance and dramatically reduce loss.
