Discera is a World Leader in CMOS MEMS Resonator Technology. The company’s broad portfolio of PureSilicon resonators offer a significant breakthrough in technology, that is being used to create the industry’s most advanced and economical, Frequency Control and RF Circuits. Discera is committed to providing PureSilicon CMOS resonator based oscillators and RF circuits that lead the industry in performance, reliability, size, power, and cost. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in San Jose, California, Discera is a privately held fables semiconductor company with investments from Ardesta, Partech, 3i, and Qualcomm Ventures.
The San Jose, CA – based Company was founded in April, 2001 by Dr. Clark Nguyen a Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, University of Michigan, who is a leading authority of micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) and integrated vibrating micro-mechanical signal processors and sensors, merged circuit/micro-mechanical technologies, RF communication architectures, and integrated circuit design and technologies, and Rick Snyder, who is Chairman of the Board, Gateway Computer, and Chairman of the Board, CEO and a co-founder of Ardesta, LLC; a venture capital fund focusing on nano-technology, micro-technology and MEMS companies.
In 2004, Discera introduced its award winning proprietary PureSilicon Resonator technology to provide an effective replacement solution to Quartz Crystal, Ceramic, and other SAW-based frequency control and timing products.
Discera’s initial products include it’s PureSilicon Resonator family as well as industry leading crystal oscillator replacement products for industry wide applications. Discera’s products uniquely address the miniaturization requirements of digital consumer products and other mobile applications.
The Company holds many patents and licenses from University of Michigan and University of California at Berkeley including numerous resonator designs, MEMS annealing, MEMS fabrication processes, temperature compensation, packaging for clock and timing applications, RF applications, FSK transmitters, filters, and Real Time Clock frequency devices.
