Surface Area/Pore Size Distribution

A variety of different techniques are used at PTL to characterize the surface area and pore size of samples. Krypton, Nitrogen and Liquid mercury are utilized to measure a wide range of surface areas.

Static Pressure

Pure adsorbate gas is introduced to the sample at known volumes and pressures so as to determine the surface area and pore distribution.

Dynamic Flow

Specific gas mixtures are introduced to the sample for the determination of the BET Surface Area - Available for 1,3 Point BET.

Gas Adsorption

Pure adsorbate gas is introduced to the sample at known volumes and pressures so as to determine pore size distribution.

Pore Size Distribution

Determines pore size distribution by introducing liquid mercury to the sample.
