Superior Structural Design

The HEX500-350HL is actuated with six high-accuracy struts that are built with precision preloaded bearings, drive components, and ball screws. The HEX500-350HL is operated by AC brushless, slotless servomotors that maximize device performance and lifetime, unlike competitive hexapods that are operated by DC brushed servomotors.

The servomotors are directly fixed to the actuator ball-screw enabling increased drive stiffness, greater positioning accuracy, and improved incremental motion (20 nm in XYZ and 0.2 µrad for θxθyθz) when compared to competitive designs that use compliant couplings or belts. The strut pivot-joints are engineered to provide high stiffness and low friction enhancing overall hexapod performance.

Design Flexibility

The HEX500-350HL is designed based on customization and flexibility. It is possible to effortlessly modify the base and platform using user-specific features or mounting patterns. This new instrument has been designed with a 150 mm diameter clear aperture in both the base and platform in order to allow for workpiece access from the bottom.

The base is designed with mounting holes enabling it to adapt directly to English or metric optical tables. The hexapod can also be vacuum prepared for demanding applications in synchrotron sample or optics adjustment, satellite sensor testing, or semiconductor manufacturing and inspection.

Powerful Controls and Software

Aerotech’s award-winning A3200 motion control software is used to drive the HEX500-350HL. The A3200 controller has been built on years of experience in complex kinematics applications, and allows effortless programming and control of the hexapod in any user-defined coordinate system. The HexGen™ sizing software from Aerotech provides the user the ability to effortlessly visualize and simulate the available workspace.
