Gunshot Residue (GSR) analysis has a crucial role to play in the determination if a firearm has been employed in a crime. Proven GSR analysis methods are based on the application of a scanning electron microscope (SEM), which is used to scan a sample and find suspect GSR particles.
If a suspect particle is spotted, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) is used to ascertain the elements in that particle.
Phenom GSR is the world's first desktop SEM that is capable of performing automated GSR analysis. It is based on the Phenom XL desktop SEM. Both hardware and software are completely integrated to improve reliability user-friendliness, and analysis speed.
