The Ion Sputter Coater allows for imaging of non-conductive samples in high vacuum mode for the highest resolution imaging. Sputter coaters increase the conductivity by coating the test specimen with a few nanometer thick metal film of Au or Pt. The higher conductivity increases the amount of secondary electron generation and creates higher resolution images.
