The SAXSpoint 5.0 from Anton Paar is a state-of-the-art SAXS/WAXS/GISAXS/RheoSAXS laboratory beamline with synchrotron detector technology designed to yield maximum resolution in a compact system.
The main aspects of this instrument include:
- High efficiency with a maximum sample throughput
- Smart X-ray beam with high spectral purity
- Designed with synchrotron detector technology
- Enables analysis of almost every material subjected to several experimental conditions
The SAXSpoint 5.0 operates under the SAXS system from Anton Paar capable of resolving nanostructures up to 620 nm. The system possesses ideal flexibility for the analysis of almost all materials under ambient and non-ambient environments.
Several additional optional aspects turn the SAXSpoint 5.0 ready for potential future applications up to the micrometer range (USAXS). The system facilitates easy access to non-destructive analysis of material properties through robust software packages capable of performing the automatic operation and data analysis.
Key Features
Excellent Data Quality in the Shortest Measurement Time
The SAXSpoint 5.0 uses a brilliant X-ray beam with high spectral purity and scatterless beam collimation. The system features robust microsource or MetalJet X-ray sources and high-performance optics. Thus, it delivers superior results within appreciably short exposure times.
Integrated with the most advanced hybrid photon-counting (HPC) detectors, the system guarantees high-quality SAXS/WAXS/GISAXS/RheoSAXS results for the analysis of nanostructured materials. Brilliant resolution is obtained with this exceptional setup, resolving structures up to 620 nm with the most compact system size of its class.

Obtain SAXS and WAXS Data in One Go
The SAXSpoint 5.0 has a moving detector, known as the Slidemaster, that helps to fully automate the scattering studies over a wide q-range. Thus, SAXS and WAXS data can be obtained in one go with no additional realignment of the system.
Users have the option to choose the required optimum q-range from the highest SAXS resolution to an extensive WAXS regime for each experiment by just shifting the detector.
The SAXSpoint 5.0 offers automatic beamstop selection and positioning for the measurement. Windowless and beamstop-less measurements can be offered since the system combines the latest EIGER2 R detectors.

Simplify the Daily Lab Routine
The system automates regular tasks to speed up the measurement process, which is a standard operation in SAXSpoint 5.0 lab system.
The system is loaded with Stagemaster, capable of automatically aligning all X-ray components and sample stages, recognizing the implemented stage and customizing the system accordingly. This provides the user the best possible result for measurement setup.
The system enables automating the sample throughput with the ASX autosampler for liquid samples, such as dispersions and biological samples. The ASX autosampler facilitates loading up to 192 samples and has cooling provisions for sensitive samples.

Users can Choose Their Stages: One System for all Experimental Conditions
Almost all kinds of nanostructures material can be analyzed with several sample stages from Anton Paar. The system is equipped with TrueFocus, a feature that enables easy and fast switching between different stages, and automates alignment for all components. Users can benefit from special flexibility in their measurement setup. The advantages of this system include the following:
- Humidity Stage enables analysis under specified RH and temperature
- GISAXS/GIXD stage examines nanostructured surfaces and thin films in vacuum or integrated with the unique GISAXS Heating Module (up to 500 °C)
- TC stages enable controlled temperature studies from −150 °C to 600 °C
- Tensile Stage ensures analysis of nanostructured fibers under specified mechanical load, with customized sample stage solutions
- Heated/Cooled Sampler makes automated studies with a temperature-controlled sampler (multi-solid/paste-like/liquid samples or capillary samples)
- RheoSAXS module integrates complete rheological and nanostructural examination in one go
- Shear Cell conducts shear cell experiments up to 350 °C
