IEEE Honors Cyrium for Patented Photovoltaic Cell Technology

Cyrium Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of multi-junction concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) cells, today announced that it was awarded the 2010 Outstanding Corporate Award in Clean Tech from the Ottawa Section of IEEE, the global association that advances innovation and technological excellence.

Accepting last Friday night’s award honoring Cyrium and two other companies who were cited in the parallel categories of Hi-Tech and Green-Tech, was Cyrium Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Simon Fafard.

Reed Abdullah, Chair of the IEEE Ottawa Section, noted that, "Cyrium is a world leader in photovoltaic cell technology, and we are proud to award Cyrium this award for successfully leading in innovation and development of a high-efficiency solar concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) cell. As solar generation becomes a mainstream choice, we are fortunate to have this industry-leading solar company driving that shift to the cleaner option here in Ottawa. Above all, Cyrium deserves this award for their contribution to the advancement of technology, their contribution to local employment and for helping make Ottawa an outstanding community.”

“Cyrium has had a rich environment in Ottawa from which to pull the talent and expertise to develop our superior concentrator photovoltaic cell technology,” said Harry R. Rozakis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cyrium Technologies. “We are honored that the IEEE has recognized our patented cell technology, and in doing so also acknowledged the commitment of the Cyrium team to develop cost effective, high efficiency CPV solutions impacting our community and the world.”

Dr. Fafard added, “We are grateful for this IEEE award and look forward to continuing to contribute to the advancement of our technology and products for the rapidly growing CPV market.”
